Meet Caroline McKenna!

SOAR365 Weekend Respite Program Support Volunteer
“Don’t be afraid to get out of your comfort zone” is the advice that Caroline McKenna has to offer to potential SOAR365 volunteers. Her experience growing up with her brother Michael, who was born with Down Syndrome, taught her about “the importance of having a community who cares” and Caroline was thrilled to find a Richmond-area organization that “has a mission close to my heart and is geared towards kids with disabilities.”

While living and working in northern Virginia, Caroline enjoyed volunteering for a weekend respite program with Jill’s House. “Jill’s House was such a rewarding and heartfelt experience, and I knew that SOAR365 would provide similar volunteer opportunities that would utilize my experience, skills, and passion to help others.” Fortunately for Caroline, SOAR365’s weekend respite program just recently resumed weekly operations, so she was able to schedule shifts immediately upon completion of her onboarding process. “Camp Baker is an incredible place. So far, my favorite part has been meeting all of the clients and the amazing staff who support them. I’m looking forward to continuing my service there, especially in the summer when camps are in full swing!”
