A serious injury left Lonnie requiring a hip replacement. No longer able to work as a chef, he needed a job that fit both his skills and his new physical reality, and he needed a place willing to give him that chance. That search led him to SOAR365.
Nathan is a fruit ninja. At Food Lion, Nathan spends his days cutting watermelon, grapes, kiwi, blueberries, strawberries, oranges and more. Nathan found the job through SOAR365’s Supported Employment program.

Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) help students with disabilities ages 14–22 explore careers, build job skills, and prepare for life after high school.
In May, Sydney Harris graduated from the University of Virginia with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Foreign Affairs and plans to begin law school in the fall. But there was one more accomplishment on her list – Sydney wanted to find a meaningful way to spend her summer. Thanks to Atlantic Union Bank’s Future Impact Makers Grant, she found it at SOAR365.
This summer, Sydney worked with both the Community Engagement and Human Resources teams, learning what it takes to support a nonprofit that serves thousands of individuals with disabilities and their families each year.
For individuals with disabilities and their families, accessible activities can make outings more comfortable, enjoyable, and less stressful. Thankfully, the Richmond area has many parks, attractions, museums, and community spaces designed to help everyone feel welcome.
For over 70 years, SOAR365’s swimming pool has been a source of laughter and fun—especially for the kids and adults with disabilities who come to Summer Camp each year.
