Getting to Know NGC Member Olivia Wood

How did you hear about SOAR365’s Next Generation Council (NGC)?

Through volunteering with SOAR365, I organically meet several members of NGC. Along the way, I learned that all of these kind and generous folks were involved in planning the events. I was intrigued to learn more about NGC!

What made you decide to become an NGC member?

The caliber of the people on the Council, as well as the opportunity to be more involved with events and initiatives at SOAR365 led me to join NGC.

What’s your favorite SOAR365 memory or experience?

My first volunteer experience at SOAR365 was one of my favorites – a co-worker brought me to the MLK Day of Service in 2023 where we painted the SOAR365 building to prep for a muralist to complete an art installation. It was here that I first got a glimpse into the organization and met some amazing friends along the way.

What are you working on now?

Having just joined, I am getting involved with the Leadership Workshop subcommittee. I hope to utilize my experiences and connections to help make this a successful event!

What can you share about yourself?

I’m a Richmond native who volunteered throughout my youth. Coming out of college and then through COVID, I have found it incredibly fulfilling to get involved with organizations like SOAR365 as an adult where I can have an impact, have some fun and make deep connections with like-hearted members of my community.
