Finding Friendship at Soar365

PARTICIPANTS LEARN SOCIAL SKILLS AND SO MUCH MORE THROUGH SOAR365’S CHILDREN & YOUTH PROGRAM
Sam and Gavin’s faces glow with smiles when they see each other onscreen. Though they attend SOAR365’s Children & Youth program at separate locations, video conferencing often brings them face to face. It’s delightful to watch their interactions! Both communicate non-verbally, but the friendship between the two is clear.

Over the holidays, Sam and Gavin finally had a chance to meet in person during Children & Youth’s outing to the Dominion Energy GardenFest of Lights at Lewis Ginter. They recognized each other immediately and appeared to have a communication style of their own throughout the evening. This heartwarming photo captures their “conversation” — and the joy in their friendship.

During a pandemic that has caused so much isolation, Sam and Gavin remind us how important it is to connect with good friends.

ABOUT SOAR365’S CHILDREN & YOUTH PROGRAM
SOAR365’s Children & Youth program provides lots of opportunities for fun and social interaction, but it also helps children navigate the real-world challenges of living with a disability. Whether in-office or out in the community, Children & Youth’s unique, tailored approach focuses on each individual’s growth. Our dedicated staff work closely with schools, therapists, doctors and other providers to develop an Individualized Service Plan (ISP) and ensure each child is on track to meet their educational and developmental objectives.

When school’s closed, we’re open — and ready to inspire, challenge, encourage, support, educate and care for children with disabilities. Our line of communication stays open, too — providing caregivers with updates, monthly activity calendars, communication logs, and more. Parents can focus on work or other responsibilities, knowing their child is safe, well-cared for and happily achieving their own goals.
