SOAR365 is proud to welcome Molly Dean Bittner as the newest member of its Board of Directors. With decades of experience in philanthropy, fundraising, and community engagement, Molly brings a deep understanding of connecting people, purpose, and impact across the Greater Richmond region.
Molly’s connection to SOAR365’s mission is deeply personal. Her older brother, Jeff, who had Down syndrome, benefited from decades of support through The Arc in Washington County, Pennsylvania. Through their services, Jeff gained access to education, employment opportunities, and a strong, supportive community that became an extension of his family. Over the course of his life, he earned more than 200 medals through Special Olympics competition – including two especially meaningful gold medals at an international event in England, where he was one of just eight athletes representing the United States. From those remarkable achievements to the lifelong relationships he built in his group home, Jeff lived a full and meaningful life made possible by the dedication of those who supported him and remains a source of immense pride for his family.
“The services that the ARC in Washington County, PA provided were truly a lifeline and a door opener for my family,” Molly says. “Through their love and support, my brother was able to lead a very enriching and rewarding life. The Dean Family is forever grateful for all they did, and serving on SOAR365’s Board offers me a way to pay that goodwill forward.”
Molly currently serves as Chief Philanthropy Officer at the Community Foundation for a greater Richmond, where she leads efforts to connect donors with meaningful opportunities to support causes that strengthen the region. Since joining the organization in 2013, she has helped individuals and families discover the joy and lasting impact of philanthropy.
Originally from outside of Pittsburgh, Molly began her career in fundraising at Dickinson College, where she served as Assistant Director of Annual Giving after graduating. She later held development roles at the Berkshire School in Massachusetts before moving to Richmond to join the University of Richmond. Over a 17-year tenure, she played a key role in major fundraising campaigns that supported projects including the Business School, Jepson Alumni Center, and Robins Stadium. She also spent more than three years supporting advancement efforts at Massey Cancer Center.
Molly’s passion for community service extends beyond her professional work. She currently serves on the Board of SwimRVA and has previously held board roles with organizations including Jacob’s Ladder and the Estate Planning Council.
“I am thrilled to welcome Molly to the SOAR365 Board of Directors,” says Board Chair Tom Cricchi. “Her extensive leadership in philanthropy, combined with her personal connection to this mission, brings both strategic insight and heartfelt commitment that will help guide SOAR365 into the future.”
SOAR365 looks forward to Molly’s leadership as the organization continues expanding opportunities and support for individuals with disabilities and their families.
