Adult Day Support participants are often on the go! They enjoy trips to museums, movie theaters, restaurants and stores—learning important life skills along the way. But one of their favorite activities is volunteering.
They love to deliver meals with Feed More’s Meals on Wheels program. “Volunteering with Meals on Wheels helps our participants develop social skills and self-confidence,” says Tricia Puryear, Vice President of Human Services. “People with disabilities deserve opportunities to be active and engaged in our community. Our participants delight in helping others!”
Mary, a participant at our Saunders location, says, “They give you the biggest hug, they give you the biggest smile like you brought them a million dollars. When they see us, that’s a meal they’ve got in their stomach tonight!”
David and Jenny, participants at Staples Mill, agree. “It feels wonderful. It feels awesome to help other people and make sure that older persons get what they need,” says David. “Makes you feel happy,” adds Jenny.
