The VCU Women’s Volleyball Team helped SOAR365 celebrate spooky season with a wonderful Fall Fest for Adult Day Program participants! Players and coaches visited our Staples Mill location for an exciting morning of Halloween fun featuring games, a “tattoo” station, photo booth, and seasonal treats. “We had a blast! Your participants are so authentically joyful, it’s fantastic,” said Head Coach Tim Doyle. “From the minute we got there, everyone drew us in and got us engaged. Our team laughed, played games, and had fun – it was a memorable experience for all of us.”
This partnership between SOAR365 and the team began this past spring through an internal VCU connection, Erik Lowery, who reached out to SOAR365’s John Walker and Michelle Thomson, who had been looking for opportunities to connect SOAR365 and VCU Athletics. After coordinating with Coach Tim, SOAR365 staff members and Adult Day participants attended a VCU volleyball game and cheered on the team!
“I have a personal connection to working with individuals with disabilities, so when I learned more about SOAR365’s mission and role in the community, I was excited to get our volleyball program involved on a long-term basis,” said Tim. “My wife and I are grateful to be associated with SOAR365 and I look forward to many more seasons and events like this one.”
During the October Fall Fest, participants had a blast meeting the team, playing Halloween BINGO, hula-hooping, dancing, and so much more! Tim congratulated SOAR365’s Staples Mill staff for the event planning. “I just want to say thank you. You decorated your facility for us, did so much prep work, and put on a great event. Your attention to detail and devotion to making each small activity memorable and exciting was evident, and I was very impressed with your level of care for your participants. I am proud to work with you.”
SOAR365 is grateful for this partnership with VCU Athletics and can’t wait until our next celebration with this fantastic team of players and coaches!
