For nearly a decade, Liz Harris has focused on developing community partnerships, creating strategies for volunteer engagement and recognition, forming a welcoming environment for diverse groups, identifying opportunities for staff development, and managing key aspects of special events.

Liz now joins SOAR365, where she will put her expertise to use in Volunteer Engagement – a critical discipline that is key to our success in serving participants through our many programs.

“We are excited to welcome Liz to the SOAR365 team,” said Michelle Thomson, VP, Community Engagement.  “With her leadership, we look forward to expanding our community partnerships and building on our successful record of volunteer engagement.”

In her role as Director of Volunteer and Community Engagement at the YMCA of Greater Richmond, Liz led volunteer initiatives that engaged more than 9,000 volunteers annually.  She managed the Bright Beginnings program that provides more than 2,500 children with clothing and school supplies as they return to school in the fall, and oversaw the Y’s Miracle League of Greater Richmond, a baseball program for children with disabilities and their families.

At the University of Richmond, Liz hosted more than 50 events annually and worked closely with volunteers across the country.  She focused on developing long-term relationships between alumni and the university, and managed cultural activities, networking events, virtual experiences, and receptions with university speakers.

“SOAR365 has a strong and robust volunteer program, and I am excited to step in to ensure that this program continues on a successful path,” said Liz.  “I truly love working in the world of non-profits and volunteers.  Supporting a mission that I care about is what drives me personally and professionally.  I want to invest my time in an organization I care deeply about, and this opportunity is a great fit for my experience and skills.”
