Question 16 – Best nonprofit leader, volunteer or organization

SOAR365’s mission is to create life-fulfilling opportunities for individuals with disabilities. For almost 70 years, we’ve been helping people with disabilities and their families throughout Central Virginia. Today, our organization impacts more than 2,000 individuals and families each year through services and employment.

Question 69 – Best children’s summer camp program

SOAR365’s Summer Camp at Camp Baker provides an incredible opportunity for both children and adults with disabilities to have the traditional summer camp experience. Held across 10 weeks each year, SOAR365’s Summer Camp lets our campers enjoy horseback riding, arts and crafts, swimming, fishing, paddle boating, hiking, and more.

Question 103 – Best community playground

PARK365 is one of Richmond most beloved playgrounds, ideal for playdates, birthday parties, family outings and more. Specially designed to accommodate those with disabilities, PARK365 features an accessible treehouse and merry-go-round, supportive swings, music and water stations, athletic courts, and a colorful sensory wall.

At PARK365, children and adults with and without disabilities can play together, learn about each other and build friendships.

Question 105 – Best volunteer opportunity for families or groups

From individual to group opportunities, and from one-day events to long-term roles and internships, there are so many ways to get involved at SOAR365. Volunteers of all backgrounds, ages and skill levels are welcome. Our volunteers describe their service as fun, rewarding, educational and even life-changing. Volunteer opportunities include beautification projects, administrative support, program support, event support and more!

Question 121 – Best Charity Fundraising Event or Gala

SOAR365’s Ladybug Fund Wine Tasting and Silent Auction is a signature community event that blends an enjoyable evening with meaningful impact, featuring curated wine tastings, a dynamic silent auction, and inspiring stories that showcase how SOAR365 empowers individuals with disabilities across Central Virginia. More than just a fundraiser, the event directly supports critical programs like Pediatric Therapy, Adult Day Support, Employment Services, and Summer Camp at Camp Baker, helping individuals live, work, and thrive. It also serves as a welcoming introduction for new supporters, creating a warm, engaging atmosphere where generosity and community come together to make a lasting difference.
