Family-friendly activities led by community partners, plus food trucks and music.
What’s better than a special evening at PARK365? How about three!
SOAR365 is teaming up with local nonprofits to offer a new Summer Series of inclusive fun. Join us from 5:30-7:30 pm on June 22, July 20 and August 17 at PARK365. We’ll have food trucks on site, a DJ and even a petting zoo (August 17 event only).
PARK365 is already home to an accessible treehouse and merry-go-round, supportive swings, colorful playgrounds and athletic courts for all to enjoy.
Now, there will be new ways to play!
Each night of the Summer Series, one of our community partners will lead free, accessible activities for the whole family:
On June 22, our featured partner will be the YMCA. The YMCA welcomes people of all abilities to participate in their wide variety of programs, including Miracle League baseball, adaptive swimming lessons, and more! Bigwife’s Mac & Cheese and Chick-fil-A will both have food for sale.
“The YMCA is excited to collaborate with SOAR365 on the Summer Series! What better place to spend a summer evening than at PARK365. At the Y, we believe everyone in our community should have the opportunity to belong,” says Lisa Y. Ramirez, SVP of Community Impact. “Through our partnership, and our community’s participation, this event will offer an opportunity where everyone can Belong, Achieve, and Connect! Come join the fun.”
On July 20, we’ll welcome Sportable to PARK365. Sportable provides sporting opportunities to more than 400 local athletes each year, by making sports accessible and inclusive for individuals with physical disabilities and visual impairments. The Boardwalk’s food truck will have hot dogs and hamburgers for sale.
“Participating in sports and recreation is important for ALL children, regardless of if they have a disability or not. For children with disabilities, there are extra barriers that can make it harder to start participating in sports, but Sportable creates opportunities for people with disabilities to engage in various adaptive sports and recreation programs across the Richmond region. Come join us at PARK365 on July 20th and learn more about the equipment and programming that make sports possible for all!” says Caitlyn Berry, Health & Wellness Outcomes Manager at Sportable.
On August 17, Beyond Boundaries will join us, along with a petting zoo! Beyond Boundaries is a local non-profit specializing in guiding participants with disabilities, veterans, at risk youth, and recovery programs on outdoor adventures. Monique’s Crêpes will also be there, selling sweet crêpes and savory galettes.
“The Summer Series partnership is great because it embraces the community! This accessible and inclusive event is for the community and put on by the community. We are beyond excited and honored to be part of it,” says Shep Roeper, Executive Director of Beyond Boundaries.
All events are free, but registration is requested.
Make sure to bring your curiosity and sense of discovery! Learn more about opportunities for kids and adults with disabilities while enjoying music and delicious food. At PARK365, everyone can play side by side, make new friends and find new activities to enjoy together.
