SOAR365’s Summer Camp for kids and adults with disabilities is making memories and winning recognition.
Time to celebrate! Summer Camp @Camp Baker was named the 3rd best summer camp in Central Virginia.
This honor comes courtesy of Virginia Living Magazine’s twelfth annual Best of Virginia issue. In January, readers cast almost half a million votes across 104 categories and five regions of Virginia.
The result? A 176-page statewide guide highlighting the best in Food & Drink, Living & Recreation, Services, and Shopping across the Commonwealth. Including one very special summer camp.
“I’m so proud of the work that we’re doing here at SOAR365,” says Latashia McLeod, Director of Summer Camp and Respite Services. “And I’m ecstatic that our hard work is being recognized.”
At Camp Baker, kids and adults with disabilities get to enjoy all the traditional fun of summer camp. The 22 wooded acres are a beautiful setting for horseback riding, arts and crafts, sports, fishing, music and drama activities, hiking, paddle boating and even outdoor tent camping. Plus, campers get to participate in Summer Camp’s famous talent show.
Family members and caregivers appreciate the respite camp provides, knowing their loved ones are in safe hands and having fun. Low staff-to-camper ratios, well-trained camp counselors and medical staff put their minds at ease.
With the help of dedicated employees, donors and volunteers, “We will continue to provide the best summer camp experience for years to come!” says Latashia.
