Not only is KOVAR celebrating its 50th anniversary, but the organization was also just awarded “Philanthropist of the Year” by SOAR365!

Did you know? KOVAR is a Virginia Knights of Columbus non-profit that provides grants and home loans to organizations that train and assist individuals with intellectual disabilities.

Over the last 20 years, KOVAR’s donations have allowed us to purchase major equipment, like a Hoyer lift for Camp Baker, feeding equipment for Pediatric Therapy and motorized wheelchairs. One of their biggest investments has been to provide the required match for vans we have received from Department of Rail and Public Transportation (DRPT). These vans are used to transport individuals in our programs to community activities. Recently, a KOVAR grant was directed toward the expense of replacing the roof of the Dining Hall at Camp Baker.

KOVAR’s support also helps SOAR365 facilitate art classes, purchase musical instruments, make building improvements and much more. KOVAR has donated more than $200,000 to SOAR365 through nearly 20 grants.

For that incredible support, SOAR365 was proud to recognize KOVAR as the “Philanthropist of the Year” in the 2021 Awards Banquet, where SOAR365 celebrates teams, individuals and organizations who go above and beyond for SOAR365. The award recipients are nominated by their peers and the nominations really speak to how dedicated these individuals and organizations are to our mission.
