We currently employ over 90 individuals with disabilities in our Business Solutions workforce, and we want each one of them to succeed.
That’s why we recently hired an internal job coach! This dedicated employment specialist provides additional guidance, tools and support. It’s one way we help our Business Solutions employees with disabilities achieve their career goals.
When it comes to workplace accommodations, our directors, supervisors and team leads have found that creativity and kindness go a long way. They use a wide range of tools to help bring out the best in their employees, such as learning a bit of ASL, texting information to deaf team members, reading documents aloud, using pictorial aids, helping fill out forms, or practicing role-playing scenarios.
Our HR training manager has also put together a variety of disability seminars for Business Solutions supervisors and crew members. They cover a range of practical topics, from how to respond to seizures and mental health emergencies to how individuals with autism process jokes and sarcasm. Team members are quick to encourage and support one another once they understand.
